9-Year-Old Girl Puts Cheese In Empty Lip Balm Tubes To Eat In Class

The Missouri fourth-grader got the idea from YouTube and people online could not get enough of her ingenuity.

Ever seen some hacks on the internet or read something and wished you had thought of it first? Well, this is one story that would surely make you feel this way. This 9-year-old girl in Missouri must be having some serious hunger pangs while in class. To the extend that she decided to sneak in a snack. But not the usual way where kids hide while trying to eat. This girl decided to do things a bit more different. Cheese was her favorite food so she decided to put some in two lip balm tubes so no one would even know when she ate from it. Pure genius. And of course, she washed the tube first before putting the cheese in. The girl's mother, Valerie Schremp Hahn, a journalist for The St Louis Dispatch posted a picture of the cheese tubes on her Twitter account with the background story and people could not get over how innovative the girl was.

Speaking with Buzzfeed News, the girl said she got the idea from a YouTube channel called Troom Troom titled "14 Weird Ways To Sneak Food Into Class / Back To School Pranks." The channel posts videos on DIY hacks and pranks. In their video, the channel used a glue stick container but the girl did not have any and decided to use the tubes. "I was just looking on YouTube because I was bored and I found this video and I decided to do it. I just took some of my dad’s cheese, sliced it up, and put it in the chapstick container," said the girl who filled the tube up with cheddar cheese. "I just found that, cleaned it out with some soap, and started filling it with cheese," she added. Then she got the tubes to school and even named them "cheese stick chapstick." While in school, she took a few bits and licks from her snack during breaks and classes.

"You can lick it and no one will know," said the fourth-grader who added her friends thought the hack was super funny. "At first I didn't tell them and I was like licking the, quote, 'cheese,' and then I told them it was cheese and they just started laughing so hard," she said. The school also eventually got to know but they were all praises for the girl's ingenuity. Hann said her daughter's teacher thought the hack was "hilarious" although she did not even notice her student was eating in class. Even the principal got to know. Han said he apparently "asked for her" during a Girls Scout meeting and, "said she’d give her a shout-out in the school newsletter." And the adulation from the Twitterati also poured in. Many thought, the 9-year-old was a world-famous businesswoman in the making.

Isn't it a billion$ idea that the Food Companies would lap up hungrily!  Another handle @Tolhaller wrote: Entrepreneur in the making right there. Twitter handle @ottaross added in the same vein: In 20 yrs, this tweet will be cast in gold on her wall as the CEO of Charcuterie Balm International. And it seems some cheese companies also took notice of the girl's innovation. Hahn revealed one company named Sargento Cheese had: sent us a bunch of lip balm tubes (and cheese) and we made a ton of lip balm to give to teachers and family. She gave them to her teachers today and said, “when you moisturize your lips, think of me.”

"I’m just impressed that anybody would, like, like this out of all things," said the 9-year-old according to Buzzfeed. "Cheese is amazing," she added. Hahn said, "I was kind of surprised it took off, but people like cheese so, you know, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised," Hahn said.
