Abandoned Cat With Different Colored Eyes & Extra Toes Finds A Loving Home

Sansa was found by a special needs worker at a pet adoption event who immediately fell in love with the cat.

The newest sensation on Instagram is a cat named Sansa and she has extra toes on her front and hind paws. She also has different colored eyes. She was abandoned by her original owner at a New York animal shelter, reports People. The person would have never thought of the kind of stardom that the cat would acquire. Sansa has over 27,000 followers on the picture-sharing platform, and each day she gets new fans. Sansa's uniqueness is due to conditions called heterochromia and hyperesthesia. The former condition ensured she had different colored eyes while the latter is a kind of seizure disorder that led to her extra toes from birth. She has six toes on her front paws and four and five toes on her hind paws. Rather than looking at these abnormalities as something negative, her new owner Karen thought they were beautiful features and immediately fell in love with her.

Karen works in the area of special needs and has over a decade of experience with children. She found Sansa when she went to an adoption event in Manhattan Petco this year with her husband, Jack. They were hoping to find a special needs cat and it just seemed like their wishes and prayers were answered when they found Sansa according to HiHomer. Talking about the first time, they saw her, Karen said, "Sansa was the only cat who was hiding and whose face we couldn't see. Her write-up stated that she had recently been abandoned by the only family she had ever known, and was suffering from anxiety and heartbreak. Even though the other cats at the event were extremely friendly and affectionate and Sansa was the complete opposite, I really wanted to interact with her. I fell in love with her immediately."

It took time for Sansa to come out of her "shell" but when she did, she bloomed into one happy, confident, and loving cat. She was also taken for regular visits to the vet. "She has really come out of her shell and become an extremely loving and social cat. She sits on our lap on the couch every day, and sleeps on the bed with us every night. She seems to know whenever Jack or I aren't feeling well, and will stay right by our sides. She is the most caring and loving cat I've ever met!" When asked about Sansa's hyperesthesia, Karen replied, "Having feline hyperesthesia means that she has fits every day. She has good and bad days, but usually has at least one episode a day. She is currently on antidepressant medication which makes her fits less violent than before. Now that she's getting treatment, she's doing much better."

Karen just does not stop gushing when talking about Sansa and added, "I love her huge personality.  I love how unique she is with her gorgeous eyes and polydactyl paws. I love how playful and mischievous she is, just like any 'normal' cat.  I love how confident she's become in such a short time, and how loving, social and vocal she is. I love how she wakes us up every morning (she's the best and most pleasant alarm clock!) and how happy she acts whenever she greets us at the door when we come home.  I love absolutely everything about her!" On her Instagram page, people always leave loving messages. A fan of Sansa named treetoplolo wrote on her latest post: I’m so glad. I don’t know you - or your two legged family, but you make me exhale and smile each time I see you. Thank you, Sansa. ♥️

Many others commented on how beautiful Sansa was. From an unloved and abandoned cat to finding a forever home, Sansa has truly come a long way. We wish her well and good health!
