Caitlyn Jenner Congratulates Elliot Page On Coming Out As Trans: "Wishing You Peace In Your Soul"

Elliot Page's coming out has been met with flood of support from the LGBTQIA community.

Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page came out as a trans amid many messages of support from actors and celebrities across the spectrum. However, it was all the more special when Caitlyn Jenner congratulated him. Jenner, an Olympic-medal winning athlete, also came out as a trans woman in 2015. Jenner's transition and coming out has been widely documented under the media's eye, making her perhaps the most famous openly transgender woman in the world. She was the most searched about celebrity in 2015, reports Mashable. She even filmed a two-part special Keeping Up With The Kardashians: About Bruce, where she answered all her family's questions about her transition, preparing them for that aspect of her life. The special was aired in May 2015.

Page had, in a long and emotional open letter shared on December 1, announced: "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot." Jenner shared his letter on her own Instagram page with the caption: Wishing you peace in your soul. Love and happiness to you, @elliotpage. Jenner isn't the only one from the community expressing their support. While actor Indya Moore replied to the 33-year-old’s Instagram post with “Love you Elliot!!”,  trans activist Geena Rocero reposted Page’s statement with the declaration: “Welcome to the fam!”

The Juno actor stated in his letter, "I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self." Page thanked all of the groups and organizations who were already working in the field of transgender rights. "I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place," he wrote. He also said he would work for the community, their betterment and added, "I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society." Despite being happy at coming out, Page said he was also worried about the hate he would get, just like many others in the community regularly face.

"The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared. I'm scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the "jokes" and of violence. To be clear, I am not trying to dampen a moment that is joyous and one that I celebrate, but I want to address the full picture. The statistics are staggering," wrote Page. However, despite the road ahead, Page said he was happy he came out. "I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive,” he wrote.

Celebrities like actors Mark Ruffalo and Anna Kendrick offered their love and support to Page as well. Ruffalo replied to Page on Twitter and wrote: Congratulation, Elliot, in committing to the full expression of your self and being so open and candid about it. You have made this world a more tolerant and loving place with your commitment, courage, and vulnerability. We are lucky to have public figures like you.  Kendrick wrote on her Twitter handle: Elliot Page’s words here are so beautiful and so eloquent, and he is reminding me that we can all be brave and joyful, even when things are scary. And this year especially, that reminder is such a GIFT. Sending them love/praise/gratitude/well-wishes etc etc etc etc. Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, commented on Page's Instagram post: Elliot rules!  She was among the many celebrities who expressed their heartfelt support in the comments - such as the Juno director Jason Reitman, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, actress Anna Paquin, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, and Girls creator Lena Dunham.

WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT! Can't wait to see you return in season 3! Page stars in the streaming service's series The Umbrella Academy.
