The mother-of-two has created a mini-Disneyland in her house with each room adhering to a different theme.
Kelsey Hermansons is a doting mom with an eye for magic. While most moms prefer to take their kids to watch the latest Disney releases or go to Disneyland, this young mom has decided to recreate the whole Disney experience for her kids in their home to a breathtaking effect. Speaking to Buzzfeed about her beautiful creations, she said: "I love all the magical details that the Imagineers create at Disneyland, and we have tried to re-create our own magic in our home."
Paired with her husband's helping hands, Kelsey has managed to build a mini-Disneyworld of sorts with all the bells and whistles for her two children. Asked how she comes up with the Disney decor, she said: "I find a lot of things for my rooms at thrift stores. I also buy some things from The Disney Store, but, mostly, I make things myself. Sometimes I buy things from other artists on ETSY if I can’t make it myself." The family which has now dedicated their whole house to it is thoroughly enjoying the process. Kelsey's husband, Eric, is always by her side helping her out whenever he can. "Eric has done everything from helping me retile our Ariel bathroom to installing light fixtures," she said.
Of all the designs she's recreated, Kelsey clearly has a favorite, and its the Cinderella master bedroom. Explaining the process behind her flagship creation, she said: "It’s the most recent space I have decorated and it is one of the most magical rooms in our home. I found antique furniture and painted it all to look straight out of Cinderella. I also added a bubble wall and the entire room is very dreamy," said Kelsey. Each room in her house is built to elicit a specific response and the entry room has a complete Rapunzel theme going. "My favorite piece that I have made would have to be my Rapunzel lanterns floor lamp," the mom says. "I found an inexpensive floor lamp at Costco and I hand-painted the lanterns myself with fabric ink."
Just because the rooms are Disney-themed doesn't mean there's no room for change. Kelsey regularly switches things up when the holiday season arrives. "Our living room gets a Coco makeover at Halloween and other rooms get a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. We do an ‘Under the Sea’ makeover and decorate our front yard in a Frozen theme at Christmas."The super-creative mother is very modest when it comes to how her work has blown up on the internet. Talking about how she feels about all the positive responses she's received from people all over the world, she said: "I really decorated our house for us to enjoy and it has been such an amazing experience to share it with so many people. I love to inspire others with my designs and I feel so honored to have the opportunity to showcase our home. I enjoy bringing a little bit of magic to my followers every day."
