Pineapple-Infused Water May Reduce Pain, Inflammation, And Aid In Weight Loss

Infused water is a great way to stay hydrated, so here are three refreshing recipes to try

For those who find plain old water "boring", you can spruce up the elixir of life with a fruity twist. Fruit-infused water has been all the rage for years now. While there are claims that some of its benefits may be exaggerated, as Healthline reports, it still "could help you lose weight, have better digestive health, and make you happier." Drinking plenty of water can only do you good, so here's how you can make different types of infused water with a variety of fruits to add some zing to your regular water, as listed out by The Heartly Soul.

1. Pineapple Fennel Water

The prickly fruit is said to have a wide variety of benefits. According to Live Science, San Diego-based nutritionist Laura Flores shared, "Pineapples contain high amounts of vitamin C and manganese. As well as having high amounts of manganese, which is important for antioxidant defenses, pineapples also contain high amounts of thiamin, a B vitamin that is involved in energy production," Flores said. The Heart Soul adds that the fruit contains bromelain which is an enzyme and a powerful anti-inflammatory that helps reduce aches and pains and assists in faster healing for the body. Fennel is great for calming the digestive system. Pineapple juice is also touted to help reduce inflammation and may help in weight loss.

This is the recipe:

Ingredients
½ cup of pineapple chunks
1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
8 cups of hot water

Directions
Wash and slice the pineapple.
Place pineapple chunks in a container with 8 glasses of hot water.
Allow it to cool, and then add the fennel seeds and leave to soak overnight.
You can either strain the seeds out or chew the fennel seeds for an extra boost of benefits.

2. Cucumber, Lemon, and Mint Water

You can also choose a mix of these ingredients that are packed with vitamins and minerals.  Lemons as we know are great for Vitamin C. They also have flavonoids and lemonin which help strengthen the cells and also aid with detoxification. Mint contains a phytonutrient called monoterpene and according to Web MD, "a single cup of cucumber slices, you'll get 14% to 19% of the vitamin K you need for the day. You'll also get vitamins B and C along with minerals like copper, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium."

3. Cherry, Cinnamon, and Lemon Water

Now this one sounds heavenly, we particularly LOVE the fragrance and taste of cinnamon. Not only does it smell great but it also helps to regulate blood sugar. Cherries have melatonin to promote healthy sleep. The lemons, as we mentioned, add the extra dose of vitamin C to make the fruity water a high antioxidant drink.

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients
½ cup of pitted cherries
2 slices of lemon
A pinch of cinnamon

Directions
Add the ingredients and leave to soak in a warm glass of water. It's a great drink to have before you drift off to a good night's sleep.
