The couple started dating in 1983 and have been together since. The couple decided to celebrate their anniversary on Valentine's Day.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell celebrated 39 years together on Valentine's Day and the relationship they share is something everyone aspires to have. Hollywood's sweetest couple are still deeply in love and they celebrated 39 years together with a lovey-dovey image of the pair kissing. Goldie Hawn took to Instagram to share the picture of the pair kissing with a huge pink heart enveloping them. The adorable photo went viral immediately garnering more than 220,000 likes within a day. "🎶 Love is a Many- Splendored thing 🎶 Happy Anniversary Loverboy ❤️🔥" Hawn captioned the photo. The duo started dating in 1983 and chose Valentine's Day as their anniversary. Love couldn't have chosen better ambassadors.
They say love fades with time, but Hawn and Russell poke holes in that theory. Last year for Kurt Russell's birthday, Hawn posted the most adorable message for her partner and you can just tell how much they love each other. "Happy birthday baby! What a wild ride," wrote Hawn on Instagram. "No, we never got married but one thing that continues to grow is our love. You’re a wild one, brilliant, lovable, childlike, perfectly maddening, a father supreme and deeply funny! I can’t imagine my life without you at any age, Kurt Russell. You’re the catch. And you’re all mine. ❤️"
In a conversation with E!'s host Chelsea Handler, Kurt Russell revealed how they just decided to make Valentine's Day their anniversary day. "You guys decided that Valentine's Day was your anniversary," said Handler, to which Russell replied, "Actually, it sort of was. The first time we went to lunch together was Valentine's Day. We just had lunch. It was very cool. I liked her, she liked me, and we decided to have lunch again," said Russell, reported E! Online. Handler continued, "You can't just make Valentine's Day your anniversary when you didn't meet on Valentine's Day! You can't just make up your own romance rules!" Russell disagreed, and said, "You've gotta roll with what you've got!"
The couple has also taken a lot of effort to spend time with each other. They take conscious breaks from their respective careers to spend quality time with one another and they take turns with the breaks. Unless of course, they are working together, as was the case when they starred in as Mr. and Mrs. Claus in The Christmas Chronicles and its sequel. The couple first met each other while filming The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1966 but would go on to date each other only years later.
The couple is not married but Goldie Hawn said they didn't really feel the need for validation from a ceremony."We have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn't that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring, and loving, then we're fine," she said in an interview with Now To Love. "We have raised our children brilliantly; they are beautiful people. We did a great job there and we didn't have to get married to do that. I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry."
Not being married doesn't make their relationship any different from that of those who are, said Kurt Russell. "I don’t think Goldie and I, in real terms, are any different than any other couple; we go through all the same things," said Russell, reported People. "There’s gonna be ups and downs and sideways and everything else. I just think after 34 years you’re gonna have experienced every emotion that you can together."
