The film, which stars Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, first premiered in 1987. Fans who watched the Oscar-winning film, were introduced to Baby and Johnny and one of the greatest dance recital sequences in film history; they can now watch the film again on the big screen.

"Thirty-five years after audiences were first introduced to Johnny and Baby, Dirty Dancing remains a cultural icon. Loved by generations of fans, this cinematic treasure has inspired multiple films, a stage version, and reality dance competitions watched around the world," read the event's description per Southern Thing. "On the film’s 35th anniversary, celebrate the magic of 'Dirty Dancing' and its timeless themes of love, family, class, and perseverance all over again." For super-fans, you can even visit Virginia's Mountain Lake Lodge, where the iconic movie was filmed. It stood in for the Catskills-based Kellerman's Mountain House in the film. What's more is that there's Kellerman's Film Package, which includes a Dirty Dancing-themed scavenger hunt, a special movie screening, and a Kellerman's-branded beach towel and cocktail glass, reports Southern Living.

Fans can also look forward to the sequel of the film which will be released on Feb. 9, 2024, according to Deadline. The screenplay has been penned by Elizabeth Chomko, Jonathan Levine, Mikki Daughtry, Tobias Iaconis and the film will be directed by  Jonathan Levine. In the sequel, we see Baby (Grey) return to Kellerman’s Resort for a story of "summer, young romance, and dancing." According to Collider, Jonathan Levine spoke about the expectations of fans with regard to such a beloved romantic classic, saying, “While the original Dirty Dancing has always been one of my favorite films, I never imagined I would direct the sequel. Through co-writing it, I fell in love with the characters (new and old), the world of 1990s Catskills New York, and the music, which will range from songs from the original movie to ‘90s hip-hop. I can’t wait to collaborate with Jennifer to bring this beautiful story of summer and romance and dancing to a generation of new fans. And to the longtime ones, I promise we will not ruin your childhood. We will tackle the assignment with sophistication, ambition, and, above all, love.”
